Goliath Stood while Giants and David Ran

During the time that Goliath was taunting the Israelite army for 40 days straight “David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper” to visit his brothers and deliver supplies as commanded by his father. “And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army” and saw that no one would stand and fight against Goliath. David ran.

Having already killed a lion and a bear David did not fear Goliath and convinced king Saul to let David fight. David declined the offer to wear the king’s armor or use his sword. “And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.”

Armed with proven tools David replied to Goliath’s verbal threats, “This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.” “And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.” David ran to meet Goliath.

“And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.” “Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.” David ran.

The Goodman Giants also had to run to see Michaelangelos’ David. Like clockwork the Giants arrived at Accademia Italiana located at Piazza de’ Pitti, 15, 50125 Firenze FI, Italy 15 minutes earlier than the schedule time for the entry as directed to do on the tickets. And good thing they had timed tickets given the three different queues at David’s museum.

Months of planning and on this 25th day of travel a mistake was discovered. David is not at Accademia Italiana, he is at Galleria dell’Accademia.

Accademia Italiana is a school 15 minutes taxi away from Galleria dell’Accademia at Via Riscasoli, 58/60, 50122 Firenze Fl, Italy. All the double checking of travel routes will not help if the wrong address and name is used. So the scene waiting above was not seen until after quite a David like rush. The Giants ran. And finally the Giants found themselves standing like Goliath at a red sign, the best sign of the three to stand by:

Standing or running Michaelangelos’ David is an amazing site to see in person. Giants rate this giant statue:

There are other fine works at Galleria dell’Accademia that did not get much eye time for the Giants or many others.
